End-of-Life Support

AK Headshot.jpeg

I’m an end-of-life doula (aka death doula or death midwife) and home funeral guide supporting individuals and families through one of life’s most sacred passages. I serve clients in Sonoma County — specifically in Petaluma, Penngrove, Cotati, Rohnert Park, and Santa Rosa — in person, and nationwide by phone or video call.

What an End of Life Doula Does

I provide non-medical, compassionate, and practical care and guidance that supplements the care provided by the medical/ hospice team. This may mean being closely involved and hands-on, or gently offering space and privacy — always in the way that best serves you or your loved one.

My role is to ease the process, reduce overwhelm, and create room for dignity, comfort, connection, and the sacred.

Services

  • Companionship, witnessing, and quiet presence that may also be caregiver respite

  • Experienced Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) Support

"XIV

Rolling from lake or mountain edge,
the stone, round volcanic
daughter, snow dove,
left its shape behind
tumbling toward the sea,
its fury spent along the way.
The boulder lost its sharp-peaked,
short-lived landmark
that like a cosmic egg
was swept into the river where
between other stones, it kept on rolling,
its ancestor forgotten,
far from the hellish landslide.

This is how, sky-smoothed, it arrives
at the sea: perfect, worn down,
renewed, renowned:
purity."

~ Pablo Neruda, "Stones of the Sky"
